SUMO Toyota 8.0" Front Differential CV Axle Bushing Kit
Driver Side | Upgraded Needle Bearing Replacement
This SUMO engineered differential bushing is a precision replacement for the factory needle bearing on the driver-side CV axle support in Toyota 8.0" front clamshell differentials.
Built to improve stability and reduce common driveline vibration and looseness, this high-quality bushing is a significant upgrade over the original needle bearing design. It provides a smooth, durable surface that supports the axle shaft with less wear and better long-term performance—especially on lifted or high-use vehicles.
What This Addresses
-
CV axle vibration and associated noise
-
Excessive shaft float due to worn needle bearings
-
Premature bearing wear in high-load applications
-
Instability under load from gears or larger tires
This solution is ideal for trucks and SUVs with Toyota’s 8.0" front clamshell differential that exhibit play or vibration related to driver-side CV axle support failure.
Engineering Features
-
Full-length sintered PTFE bushing, metal backed
-
Bronze inlay for low friction, long life
-
Designed to replace the fragile factory needle bearing with a more stable support surface
-
Optimized for load distribution and smooth rotation throughout service life
This bushing is engineered to precise tolerances and built with long-term reliability in mind.

Technical Installation Considerations
The SUMO bushing is longer than the original needle bearing it replaces. While most carriers allow the bushing to seat correctly, some Toyota differential casting variations include an internal ridge in the bore.
-
Acceptable installed height: 0.030"–0.065" proud of the carrier bore
-
Do not force the bushing past an internal stop; excessive force can deform the part and compromise CV axle fitment
-
Installation should be achieved with steady, firm blows until resistance increases, then verify the installed height
This designed tolerance ensures the bushing functions properly without contacting internal differential gear surfaces.
Important Compatibility Notes
-
❌ Not compatible with Harrop or other bolt-in e-locker differentials
-
❌ Does not fit manual hub carrier assemblies
